The last formal record for James is the 1901 Census which shows him living in Wheelton. His son, Bertram Waring's (born Benedict Longton) marriage certificate dated 1921 gives his father's name as James Waring (deceased). A search of the CRI(E&W) death register between April 1901 and December 1921 gives only one possible entry based on name and age at death although the registration district of Toxteth Park does not fit easily with the fact that he was born, and up to the 1891 Census, had lived in the Chorley area. However, his wife, Margaret's death was also appears to have been registered in Toxteth Park which leads credence to the fact that they may have moved there sometime after the 1901 Census.
