The household consisted of John Kent and his son Albert both of whom were working as casual day labourers, and Ellen who is shown as a housekeeper. Considering the the likely income of John and Albert it was unlikely they could have afforded to pay a housekeeper. A more likely explanation is that Ellen was renting a room and also acting as an unpaid housekeeper.
This is the only 1901 Census record that can be found for Ellen Osborne in Cornwall but it may not be correct as she was known to be living by herself in St Blazy at the time of the 1891 and 1911 Censuses (although not at the same address) and there does not seem to be a valid reason for her to move to St Austell and back again. Also it is known that there was another Ellen Osborne born in St. Columb Major in 1841/2 who also appears in the 1911 Census.

It is known from the 1861 Census that he married someone called Ellen after the death of his first wife in 1857. A search of the marriage indexes in FreeBMD did not contain an Ellen, only a Catherine Dyer and a Helen Harris. As the names Helen and Ellen are phonetically similar it is concluded that the marriage registration was made in the name of Helen Harris. Whether this was a transcripAt first this showed that his marriage was registered in the second quarter of 1860 in the St Columb district. However, the transcript of the index for register entries is incomplete in both FreeBMD and FMP so Ellen is not listed. Also there is no register entry transcript in FamilySearch and FMP so it has not been possible to determine Ellen's surname or exctly where thay married. However, as William was living and working in St Columb Minor (Newquay) both before and after his marriage it is virtually certain that he and Ellen married there.
