farm manager for the Duke of Beaufort's; Badminton estate2
During his time as farm manager he ran the Badminton Parachute Club and would take parachutists up in a Cessna 172 British Skydiving Archive which he owned. John had been in the RAF and was keen on flying. Indeed he only left the RAF because Vera said she would not marry him unless he did so. Presumably he attended agricultural college after leaving the RAF. He also collected Series 1 Land Rovers which he kept in a barn on the estate. During his time as Farm Manager he and Vera lived in a tied cottage. When he started is not known but he was dismissed a few years after his daughter's marriage and he and Vera went to live in an Badminton Estate cottage north of Yate. What happened to his plane and the land Rovers is not known.
