He was probably a casual labourer picking up work wherever he could. He almost certainly started working when he was 12 or even younger and continued until the end of his life.

Henry is apprenticed to a mason William is shown as being employed but the entry is not understood. The family have the house or cottage to themselves but the size is unknown.
