Clara Brown was a mourner at the burial of John Brown on 27 May 1891 in the Great Grimsby Old Cemetery, Ainsley Street according to the Church of England rite. The mourners included George Brown, Mary Jane Brown, Ann Marie Brown and Clara Brown. The minister at the burial was the Rev. Rev. George Warren. If it was large funeral it would almost certainly have taken place in the Baptist Tabernacle which he had built. A smaller funeral sevice would have taken place in the Dissenters Chapel at the cemetery. In both cases the funeral service would have been followed by a short committal service at the graveside. It is noted from the register page that E. Lauderdale was the Officiating Minister at some of of the burials. As Edward Lauderdale was John Brown's son-in-law (married to his daughter Mary) it is surprising that the service was not taken by him. Who else was there is not known although although a number of friends and business acquaintances were almost certainly present
Although he was buried in the same section as his wife Jane he was not buried in the same grave. Jane was buried in Plot 50/21; John was buried in Plot 50/13. He would certainly have had a memorial but in 1959 the entire burial ground was cleared and memorials were destroyed and buried. No record of his memorial can be found.

Edward was her brother-in-law being married to Clara's sister Mary Jane. Why she chose to be baptised is not known especially as she was still living in Great Grimbsy. However, her siblings were probably present but not her parents - her mother had died in 1878 and her father in 1891. Who else was there is not known.
