1792, Register Entry for Marriage of Jonathan Ward and Sarah Emerson

  • Spouse:

  • Jonathan Ward (1772- )

  • Children:

  • William Ward (1806-1875)

  • Marriage Banns:

  • 11 Mar 1792

  • St Saviour's Church3

  •

  • Address: Southwark, Surrey

The register entry has been annotated with the letter 'M' indicating that the couple had married. The handwriting of the annotation is that of J West who has one of the witnesses to the marriage.

  • Marriage:

  • 8 Apr 1792

  • St Saviour's Church4

  •

  • Address: Southwark, Surrey

The relationship of the first witness John Jenkins to the couple is not known. The second witness W West also witnessed some of the other, but not all, weddings so it is assumed that he was a Churchwarden or the clerk. This assumption is supported by the fact that the Banns Register has been annotated with an 'M' (indicating that the couple had married) in J West's handwriting. Who else was at the service is not known but their parents and family may have been there.
