    It is known that he died sometime between the 1851 and 1861 Censuses. A search for his death registration produced only one result in the registration area where the family lived. As his death was such a short time after the 1851 Census it is assumed that he died where the family were living at the time of the census.

In the census return the disability column for Simon's row shows him as being blind, deaf & dumb. However, there is a hand drawn line on the return which indicates that the entry belongs to Elizabeth Mary.
