Charles was the Groom's father. The couples relationship to the other witness is unknown. Who else was there is not known but probably Albert's mother and the bride's mother (her father was dead).
The marriage was bigamous because Albert was still married to Mabel Castro although that marriage lasted only two years. The bride and her family would not have known that the marriage was bigamous and it is unlikely that the groom's family would have known of Albert's first marriage otherwise his father would not have signed the register, which describes Albert as a batchelor, as a witness.

The 1939 Register and the Electoral Registers for 1946, 1949 and 1951 show them living together. However, the 1955 Electoral Register shows Elsie living by herself at 66 Barrow Road. As the qualifying date for this register is 10 October 1954 Albert must have left sometime before then. The reason for the breakup is unkown but it appears that Albert left Elsie as Elsie continued to live at Barrow Road until the end of her life. He does not reappear as registered voter until 1957 Register the qualifing date for which is 10 October 1956 by which time he is living with Win Rosam at 8 Fontaine Road. It is strongly suspected that he left Elsie for Win but how they met is not known.
