Although her husband Joseph Richmond is shown in the 1871 and 1881 Censuses as living as a member of the staff in a lunatic asylum and being married no record can be found of Mary in those Censuses. Also Joseph and Mary's son Horace is shown in these Censuses as living with his Uncle in Haddingham and as a lodger in Pottern respectively. This reinforces the view that Mary was no longer alive.
