  • In what capacity is not shown - presumably not as a cobbler which is a skilled occupation. Judging from the conditions in which the family were living in the 1891 Census it was poorly paid. It would seem from his previous occupations that he took work wherever he could find it.

    The household consisted of Thomas, his wife Julia, and their children Thomas (age 6), Julia (age 4) & Fredrick (age 2). According to the census return all the children were at school! However, it is doubtful whether Frederick was at school. The family shared the house with two other families, one of 8 and the other of 4, making 17 in all. There is no indication as to the size of the house.
