Apart from the fact that it was considered necessary to admit her to a lunatic asylum her medical condition is not known. The 1861 Census says she is an invalid but is not specific as to the reason - perhaps she was already showing signs of mental illness. She remained in the asylum for the rest of her life.

Her death registration giver her age as 45. However, she was 54. The digits may have been accidentally reversed.
